Referrals for Landowners
If you would like to receive assistance on anything forestry related, please fill out the form below, call us (989-732-4021) or visit our service provider page that lists the resource professionals in the area that provide specific services
How Referrals Work
If there are no responses by forestry professionals for a service, the FAP forester will re-post the referral within 14 days of the original referral date. If there are still no responses within 28 days of the original referral date, the FAP forester will personally inquire with forestry professionals to find interested individuals.
- FAP foresters can provide referrals to the private sector on behalf of a landowner.
- The FAP forester will send out a request for the landowner's required service (management plan, timber harvest, consultation, etc.) by email and online.
- None of the landowner's personal information (name, address, etc.) will be listed in the referral.
- When a forestry professional wants to take on a landowner's job, they will contact the FAP forester to express their interest.
- The FAP forester will contact the landowner and provide them with the forestry professional's contact information.
- The landowner can then contact the forestry professional to discuss the job further.

Referrals for Forestry Professionals
Professionals interested in pursuing the project described below should respond to Otsego Conservation District by email or phone within two weeks of this posting. You may include additional relevant information in your responses pertaining to the project. I will then forward all contact information for responses received to the landowner. We encourage landowners to contact all of the consultants who reply in a timely fashion, but the choice remains with the individual landowner. Our office will follow up with landowners to ensure they get the assistance they need. *Location: Grayling, Kalkaska County
*Buildings: Houses and Sheds
*Parcel Size: 10-50 acres
*Soil Types: Most of the property is Grayling sand with an Ausable-Bowstring Muck around wet area.
*Water Bodies/Wetlands: Property does touch the Manistee River, However not looking to harvest in that area.
*Road/Access: Access off Swift Creek Road, off Portage Creek Road.
*Cover Types: Primary cover type is mature jack pine, with oak and white pine mixed in.

*Cover Types: Mixed Hardwoods

*Buildings: 2 Hunting Blinds
*Parcel Size: 58 acres
*Soil Types: Various different sand classifications and less than 6% slopes. Peat located in swamp
*Water Bodies/Wetlands: Total "swamp" encompasses roughly 20 total acres on the property - all situated on the northern border of the property.
*Road/Access: Written easement agreement, road access on the south side of the property. Trails located throughout the entire property.
*Cover Types: Primarily hard and soft maple, with components of oak and red pine. (Owners has been doing some thinning on understory trees)

- Cover Types: : Primary cover type is northern hardwoods. One 5 acre scotcs pine plantation and one 5 ac douglas fir/ blue spruce plantation
